Day 1 in Silicon Valley!

>Day 1 in Silicon Valley really rocks! The sun, the wind, the place and definitely the company made this trip really memorable. The Stanford tour was awesome. The architecture of the school is so pretty and their book store carries so many things. And most importantly, what amaze me is how entrepreneurship is so highly encouraged and inculcated in Stanford. It is also interesting learning about the differences in the entrepreneurial culture in Silicon Valley and Singapore from Prof Tom Kosnik. One main difference is that in Singapore, there is this fear of failure and this mentality stopped us from taking risks and chances in many things.

Throughout the day, we also met a few entrepreneurs and it is definitely insightful to learn more about their background and the difficulties that faces when starting their business. They were also more than willing to share about their experiences and the difficulties that are facing at this current stage. Laina and Annamaria shared more about the concept of green technology and their company G-ET-IT and I learnt much more about the whole concept of green technology as well as the importance of it. It is also cool how she can balance green technology and at the same time making money from it.

Ooshma’s talk was very interesting and I can relate to it a lot to her experience being in a new start-up myself. Her sharing on her business model and also the struggles and difficulties that she faced also inspire me to persevere on no matter what challenges we may face in the future.

Looking forward to more company visits and most importantly, the Apple shop! <
